L'Amour (last name really LaMoore) wrote 89 novels and is one of the best know
western writers. He knew the west well. He was origonally from the Dakota Territories
but lived in Texas, California, Arizona, and eventually Choctaw, Oklahoma. At one time he was a professional boxer. His
books are easy to read and very entertaining.
