Edgar Rice Burroughs

Edgar Rice Burroughs:  “No fiction is worth reading except for entertainment.  If it entertains and is clean, it is good literature...”
In The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, St. Martin's Press, 1993, page 178, we read, "Tarzan is a remarkable creation, and possibly the best known fictional character of the century."  Because Edgar Rice Burroughs' books and characters were so popular, his thoughts and ideas and characters were able to have a positive influence on individuals and on society.
