Margaret Mitchell

“I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow.”
― Margaret Mitchell in Gone with the Wind

“You're so brutal to those who love you, Scarlett. You take their love and hold it over their heads like a whip.”
― Margaret Mitchell in Gone with the Wind

Scarlett O'Hara was no ordinary character, and that's what made her so interesting to read about.  According to a 2014 Harris poll, Gone With The Wind is the second favorite book of Americans after the Bible.  Margaret Mitchell wrote it to pass the time while recovering from a car accident.  If you're only going to write one book, what a book.
